CFSHC receives a grant from the GiveWell Community Foundation

CFSHC is proud to announce that we’ve received a grant from the George W. Jenkins Fund through the GiveWell Community Foundation for our “Helping Seniors Maintain Their Independence” program! In addition, we received the remaining grant money needed for our “Helping Children with Cochlear Implants Improve Language” program! Thank you so much to the George W. Jenkins Fund and GiveWell!

Congratulations, Tori!

Today, we received a sweet message from the mother of one of our past “Child of the Year”!
“Tori is “Graduating” elementary school tomorrow. As you know, she received her first hearing aids, 1.5 months prior to starting Kindergarten at Chain of Lakes. She was dismissed from Speech after the second grade. She is leaving COLE tomorrow with all A’s…..since Kindergarten. She is also receiving awards in PE, Music, Art, Track, Safety Patrol and AR. In addition, we have been told she is up for a special award for the whole 5th grade, which is 180 students.
What is the best thing about Tori? A lot of those kids in that 5th grade class don’t even know she has hearing aids. She doesn’t allow her hearing aids to define her, she is just a 5th grade little girl that’s getting a bunch of awards….but we know what she has overcome to get to where she is today.”

This is why the Center is here! Congratulations, Tori! We are so very proud of you!
